About Teche Lake Outfitters
Whether you’re a seasoned hunter or chasing upland birds for the first time, our goal is simple: to give you a South Louisiana hunting experience you’ll remember for a lifetime. Our guides were raised with a passion for bird hunting, and we work hard to make sure everyone gets their fair shot—no shortcuts, no crowds, just real hunting.
A typical hunt at Teche Lake begins in the saloon, where we get acquainted and lay out the day’s plan. The morning hunt kicks off around 8:30, with guests and guides heading out across fields and woods shaped by generations of stewardship. You’ll work coveys with English Setter pointing dogs and sometimes a Labrador Retriever along for the flush or retrieve.
On any given day, you’re likely to spot more than just quail. Our land is home to white-tailed deer, wood ducks, rabbits, barred owls, red-shouldered hawks, and maybe even an alligator sunning by the bayou. It’s not uncommon to hear the whistle of wood ducks at dawn or watch marsh hawks work the open grass.
Around noon, we head back to the saloon for a break. While we don’t serve lunch, we do provide a place to relax and enjoy a cold drink before the afternoon hunt. If you want to warm up or swap stories, you can spend a little time at our clay target range. After a rest, we head back out to the fields at 2:30 and hunt until about 5:30, closing the day with pictures, handshakes, and a round of refreshments. For supper, you’ll find a range of local Cajun restaurants just a short drive away.
One of the joys of upland hunting is working with good dogs, and we welcome guests to bring their own. There’s nothing quite like watching a pointer lock up on a covey, or seeing a retriever charge through the grass for a downed bird. If you have a hunting dog, they’re part of the story here, too.
Our roots run deep in Louisiana, but our team also guides in Kansas during parts of the season. If you enjoy hunting with us and want to book a trip out of state, let’s talk—we’re happy to help you plan a hunt that fits your interests.
At Teche Lake Outfitters, we believe in honest hunting, land stewardship, and Southern hospitality. We look forward to welcoming you, sharing our corner of the world, and giving you the kind of hunt you’ll talk about for years to come.
